An anti-immigration tea party on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol gets crashed by someone who isn’t a sociopath. Robert Erickson took the podium to rail against immigration with the same old caricaturish rhetoric, only to pivot the object of his anger to “European immigrants,” ending with chants of “Columbus go home!” The tea partiers look mystified — unsure of whether or not they should be cheering or booing.
Well played, Mr. Erickson. Viewers, be warned: your laughter may turn to horror as the anti-immigration crowd gets extremely riled up whenever the party crasher gives lines like, ”It’s time for us to round them up and send them back where they came from.” They literally get off on visions of violence against those they have “other”-ized.
