The technological difference is insane, but I want to note something about the marketing. The whole “mankind is the underdog” cheerleading angle for the remake is just a joke. We dominate and brutalize our planet. We are the cruel gods of this story. That is how this film, if it is to reflect reality in any way, should be interpreted.
