“People Got A Lotta Nerve” by Neko Case

ANTI-, Case’s record label, is donating $5 to the Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) every time someone posts this song off her forthcoming album, Middle Cyclone. Its lyrics point out the absurdity of a common situation: humans capture or breed a wild animal and cage it away from its natural habitat; a human gets hurt, often due to his/her own ignorance or recklessness; and the non-human animal is killed for being “a danger to humans”. Other variations of this sequence are common: domesticated pet bites annoying child, bear wanders into New Jersey suburb, etc.

The BFAS runs a 2,000-resident animal sanctuary in Utah along with a variety of other programs to help non-human animals. You can learn more here.
